Exploring the Roots of Violence

Our trainer Nik reminded us about stereotypes, prejudices and discrimination and then moved onto the Sternberg triangle of hate theory. Interaction was strong and this part of the session went beyond its original timing.

The Galtung Triangle of Violence was introduced, the aspect of direct violence was clear for the group, however, the aspects of cultural and structural violence were not so clear and led to a long and interesting discussion. The group was very engaged and the discussion went on for much longer than anticipated!

For the final part of the session the participants were split into country groups to come up with examples of cultural and structural violence from their own experience and country.
